Fall 2025 Development & Strategy Fellowship

Part-Time | Paid | Remote | August to December 2025

Pay: $30 per hour

Time: Up to 15 hours per week

Location: Remote (preference for candidates in New York or New England)

Openings: 3 Fellows

Harvey & Smith Impact is accepting letters of interest for our Fall 2025 Development & Strategy Fellowship. This is a part-time, paid opportunity for three individuals who want to learn how small, justice-focused nonprofits stay organized and raise the money they need to do their work.

We partner with community-based organizations led by people who are closest to the issues. Some focus on youth and education, others on food access, public health, climate, or the arts. Many are Black-led, Indigenous-led, or LGBTQIA-led. Most are rooted in care, culture, and collective action. As a fellow, you will get a close-up look at how these groups stay on track with fundraising, communicate with supporters, and move their work forward.

This is a flexible, behind-the-scenes role for someone who is organized, curious, and aligned with values of equity and justice. College credit may be available depending on your school’s requirements.

What You Will Learn

  • How nonprofit teams stay organized while managing multiple funders

  • How to research and identify aligned funders, donors, and corporate sponsors

  • How development timelines, tracking systems, and communication tools support long-term success

  • How to support fundraising in a way that reflects mission, values, and community priorities

What You Will Do

  • Track grant deadlines, deliverables, and funder communication

  • Keep development calendars, shared folders, and task lists up to date

  • Conduct research on potential funders, donors, and business sponsors

  • Help prepare internal documents, reports, and donor materials

  • Support coordination for fundraising campaigns and small events

  • Join weekly check-ins and assist with active development projects

Who This Is For

We welcome people from all backgrounds, identities, and life experiences. You do not need a degree, resume, or fundraising experience to express interest. Whether you are switching careers, returning to work, caregiving, formerly incarcerated, or navigating another life situation, you are welcome here.

We are looking for people who are dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. If you care about justice and want to understand how social change gets funded, we encourage you to apply.

How to Submit a Letter of Interest

Send a short letter (300 words or less) to blake@harveysmithimpact.com that tells us:

  • Why you are interested in this fellowship

  • How you hope to use what you learn to support justice-focused work

We will review letters on a rolling basis. The fellowship begins in late August and ends in mid-December 2025.
