About Harvey & Smith
Close to the work.
Committed to its future.
Harvey & Smith Impact helps nonprofits strengthen their funding and socially conscious businesses bring their community commitments into focus. We combine strategic judgment with hands-on support to carry the work forward.
The firm
Practical strategy.
People who stay involved.
We support nonprofit fundraising, corporate giving strategy and embedded fundraising leadership. For businesses, that means thoughtful giving programs, stronger nonprofit partnerships and credible communications. For nonprofits, it means donor and funder relationships backed by experienced delivery.
We begin with the context: your goals, existing relationships, resources, and team. The plan grows from that understanding, with clear responsibilities and a realistic schedule.
Each engagement identifies its delivery lead and the expertise needed. Where additional consultants are involved, their roles and capacity are agreed before work begins.
Leadership
Experience that informs the work.

Larry Blake Harvey
Founder and Principal Consultant
Larry Blake Harvey is a strategic communications and organizational consultant who helps leaders strengthen how their organizations are understood, supported, and positioned for growth. His work begins with the organization’s goals and connects its public presence with the relationships and practical work needed to advance them.
For more than a decade, he has worked across communications strategy, public relations, and corporate social responsibility. He founded and led a consulting firm serving small and midsized businesses as well as major corporations. His client work spanned retail, fashion, and entertainment, alongside communications for federal and state election campaigns.
Across these settings, he has helped shape how organizations reach and engage people. His extensive event experience connects the message with the experience itself, while his marketing and digital audience work brings attention to how an initial connection can develop into an ongoing relationship.
Corporate social responsibility is a substantial part of that perspective. He understands the importance of connecting a company’s values with its partnerships and community involvement, and of making those commitments meaningful to the people participating in them.
His background also includes business ownership, startup user acquisition, and nonprofit executive leadership. These responsibilities shape his consulting approach: consider the organization’s capacity, make the decisions clear, and stay involved as the work moves forward.
In fundraising, he combines structured major-donor cultivation with institutional funding experience, including federal and state grants. He brings the same attention to relationships, preparation, and follow-through that informs his communications work.
Through Harvey & Smith, he gives business owners and organizational leaders an experienced partner for strategy and implementation. The work can begin with a clearer message, a stronger partnership, or a pressing organizational priority, with a plan grounded in what the team needs to accomplish.

How we work
Care is a working practice.
Understand before prescribing.
Listen to the people doing the work. Build on what is already useful and identify what needs to change.
Make responsibilities clear.
Agree the scope, decision maker, delivery lead, and fees so everyone understands what comes next.
Leave something useful.
Create plans, tools, and routines your team can use, with the support needed to put them into practice.
